Duathlon Ta Malayblay (Charter Day Celebration)

March 11, 2018 Mayor Inaki Zubiri Duathlon Ta Malaybalay is the first city sponsored duathlon in Malaybalay City, in celebration of the city's 20th charter day. Malaybalay City Sports and Development Office spearheaded the event, headed by Mr. Christopher Soria in collaboration with Malaybalay runners and coach Kenneth Amiel Taylor. It was held in basakan area in Simaya, Malaybalay City. It was a successful event attended by different participants in different regions. And all the winners are more than happy to receive a medal, trophy and a cash prize. Coordinators deserved a double pat in the back. Kudos! Arki joined the event and he got second place in age 6-8 category with 1000 cash prize. Here is a short video clip of Arki's performance: I hope the City would sponsor more activities like this.  Arki's next race: Alaska Ironkids. Bring it on!

Clubfoot to Triathlete

Arki Emmanuel C. Lozano was born on June 21, 2011. He was born with a bilateral clubfoot wherein both feet are twisted internally and that the feet face each other. 1 in 1000 babies are born with clubfoot. At 4 days old, he has undergone series of casting; every week for 3 months. It was a tough journey for us. Every week we need to produce 2,500 pesos for his casting procedure. We borrowed money a lot. We borrowed from friends, relatives and even lending centers. Apart from that, we need to take in all the pain that Arki was feeling. He cried a lot and he had numerous sleepless nights, so did we. The Cast His feet without the cast After 4 months of casting, he was now ready to wear a shoe brace for 2 years. The agony started here. He can only move his feet in up, down and side directions. He never slept when he first wore the brace. Only until after few days, did he manage to familiarize the brace. The shoe Brace After 2 years, he was allowed to...

My Triathlete

Feb 18, 2018 - Butuan RCL Triathlon Series This was Arki's 1st triathlon race. Competing for age 8-15 category (even though he's still 6). This was more like a tune up race for the upcoming Alaska Ironkids this coming March in Davao City.  It was more of a play for him than a competition. It's always like this in every races. We don't really pressure him to join a race to win, as long as he is enjoying what he is doing. It's already a consolation for us that his clubfeet are now fixed, big thanks to this sport. All our effort and the effort of his coaches paid off. Triathlon ready With Daddy. Setting up the bike for the transition. With friends - youone and klingkling Ready To Swim  Racing to Swim Out in the water Slow and easy To Bike transition area (These motorcycles though. Very unsafe) With my ever supportive parents. I'm officially a triathlete and definitely Alaska Ironkids ready He fi...
